Thomas Moore Backyard: Brand Development


The Moore family began farming along the Brazos River over 150 years ago. For five generations they have been producing high quality livestock feeds. In recent years the company has expanded to include wild bird seed, exotic bird seed and small pet feed.

The wild bird seed market in the U.S. is estimated to be $5.5 billion in 2014. And most of this seed is produced and packaged in mass quantities in the Midwest and West, then shipped across the country. Thomas Moore Feed saw an opportunity to produce locally-grown, high-quality wild bird seed for its grocery and feed store clients in Texas.

Thomas Moore Feed wanted to be the preeminent wild bird seed producer in Texas and surrounding states.

Solution
Armed with a great story to tell, our team developed the Thomas Moore Backyard brand. This gave the Thomas Moore name resonance outside the traditional feed store channel and positioned them as a player in the birding world. Completely new packaging and POS were developed and the launch was supported by a new website, social media campaign and online promotions.
